Voters in Leon County's district four will decide this fall who will replace outgoing County Commissioner Tony Grippa.
Grippa announced in April he would be stepping down in November to accept a promotion with Brown and Brown Insurance, and late Wednesday Grippa made it official.
He turned in his letter of resignation.
The supervisor of election’s office says three candidates who were going to run in 2008 have now switched to the 2006 race to fill the remaining two years in Grippa's term.
They are Bo Bludworth, Tony Carvajal and Will Messer. Brad Trotman has withdrawn.
Qualifying begins at noon July 17.
