The Leon County Multi Agency DUI Strike Force is releasing results from the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The DUI strike force agencies made a total of 17 drunk driving arrests at specific checkpoints.
The 17 DUI offenders cover a cross section of residents. The goal of the checkpoints was to finish the Fourth of July holiday weekend with no DUI fatalities, and the strike force is happy to report no DUI crashes happened in Leon County over the holiday weekend.
The campaign began June 29 and wrapped up July 4. During the checkpoint operations, 739 motorists were contacted. Besides the 17 arrests, additional arrests were made including 14 for suspended driver's licenses.
The DUI strike force is also reporting no fatal DUI crashes over the Memorial Day weekend as well. They attribute their efforts to a county-wide crackdown on drunk driving.
