For the first time ever the Gadsden County Parent and Teacher Association is honoring one of their own.
Shanks Middle School Principal Rosalyn Smith got a surprise of a lifetime as members of the PTA honored her as "Administrator of the Year."
A committee of folks chose Smith for her dedication to students, her professionalism in relating to parents, and other wonderful attributes.
Rosalyn Smith said, "It's a great feeling and it's a feeling that says the work that you do is noticed by others besides you who are here on a daily basis, so to have this special honor after 30 years, I'm just overwhelmed.”
Organizers say this was a picture perfect opportunity to recognize administrators for their hard work.
PTA members will host a banquet to honor Smith on July 22 at 7:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy.
