It was supposed to be the happiest time of Ali Gilmore's life. Her first baby's due date just a few days away.
Family and friends gathered to dedicate a tree to Ali and her unborn baby. The tree and plaque were donated by the Tallahassee Police Department. Family and friends say the dedication is bitter sweet.
"It's a double edged sword. I'm happy to see the tree go up and have a place to come hide. It's living and you can come by and see it but on the other side it brings back her memories. We don't want to think about what could have happened to her," said Angelena Little.
Family and friends saying this tree is not just for family but for the whole community to come visit and water.
The tree dedication just one of many events going on to keep Ali and her baby fresh in the minds of the community.
Residents who live in Ali's neighborhood on Loraine Court are also gathering. They're dedicating a bench and garden in her memory.
