Health officials have hired a full-time dentist to care for patients in the rural community.
In the past, residents traveled to Tallahassee for dental help.
Now with the advent of the new dentist, Jefferson County health officials are hoping more folks will take advantage of this opportunity.
Dentist Peggy Burns said, "We see patients that normally have never been to a dentist. Most of them, the education level is just so they don't have a lot of knowledge on how important it is for oral hygiene."
Dr. Peggy Burns will be on site Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Health officials are encouraging folks to come out for preventive help in addition to dental problems.
