The American Medical Association says Americans are 18 percent more likely to die in a traffic accident on Election Day than on any other Tuesday of the year.

Insurance officials say many motorists tend to be preoccupied on Election Day.

Some may feel so determined to arrive at the voting booth that they aren't paying full attention to the road.

And officials say drivers are more likely to get in an accident at a certain time of the day tomorrow.

Allstate Insurance Agent Barry Broome says, "The most dangerous time of the day would be in the morning, so we want to avoid the rush hour traffic if you will, normal rush hour traffic that is typical but its gonna be compounded by the fact that people will be trying to get to the voting booth before they head for work."

Here are some simple tips you can take with you to the polls so you don't become a statistic.

Number one- SLOW DOWN. Fast driving is the top reason for traffic fatalities in this country.

Also, anticipate traffic flow, be watchful of the cars ahead of you so you can maneuver out of harm's way, and lastly pay attention to the road.

Being distracted while driving can easily lead to an accident.

And for God's sake don't look up at the billboards showing the results. It is kind of funny this story is right below the one telling people about the billboards around Ga. that will have election results on them.
