Young voters are expected to turn out in record numbers for this election and some say it could make all the difference in Florida.
In Leon County alone, one in four early voters was under the age of 25.
It was a gauntlet of sorts at the FSU student union Monday as McCain supporters cheered those who took stickers, and boo-ed those who didn't.
Obama supporters handed out stickers and signs just feet away and young people on both sides of the aisle say they're making history.
"Once a generation you have a candidate like a Kennedy or a Roosevelt and I think that this is ours," said Joseph Sweitzer with Seminoles for Obama.
"We've been named and dubbed the selfish generation if you will and I think it's more that we want to have a voice, we want someone to listen to us," said Jocelyn Kozlowski, Chair of Noles for McCain.
Young voters under the age of 35 are expected to turn out in record numbers for the '08 presidential election.
Early voting in that age group is up 50% since the last presidential election according to the America Votes Voter Access Network.
And elections officials in Leon County say one in four early voters was under the age of 25.
Political scientist Lance deHaven Smith says that youth vote could very will decide the election in Florida.
"Florida elections are very close and when you see a group that historically doesn't turn out very high suddenly comes to the polls in large numbers, that could the big difference," Smith said.
Young people we spoke to say they want to be heard on issues like the economy, the war in Iraq and clean energy.
"I don't think voters, the youth are nearly as apathetic as they used to be," said McCain supporter Emily Bacon.
"My friends, my peers motivate me to go out and vote and get registered and get involved," said Obama supporter Cassandra Saintfort.
"The young vote is going to decide this election. We're a fourth of the electorate today and will be a third of the electorate in 2012," said Bessie Schwarz with PowerVote, a non-partisan group that encourages students to vote and push for green jobs and clean energy.
