Key Witness in Murder Trial Disappears

There has been a real setback for the prosecution in the case of a man charged with murdering a Tallahassee couple two years ago.

Prosecutors say they will continue with the August 14 trial despite the disappearance of a key witness.

The bodies of 21-year-old Jamilla Byers and 22-year-old Bryan Dyson were found in a black Honda at the Prince Murat Motel on North Monroe.

Ryan Hubbard was later arrested and accused of killing the couple in September of 2004.

Prosecutors told Judge Kathleen Dekker Tuesday they were prepared to proceed with the evidence they have, even if the significant witness, Marcus Gould, could not be located by the start of the trial.

Hubbard could face the death penalty if convicted.
