Things are heating up over unemployment in Georgia's senate runoff race.
Yesterday we brought you the story that Senator Saxby Chambliss was campaigning in Valdosta....and talked about unemployment.
Jim Martin...his opponent, pointed out that while Senator Chambliss was talking to us...he missed a Senate vote on legislation that would provide up to thirteen weeks of federal extended unemployment benefits to workers nationwide.
The Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2008 was enacted Thursday despite Chambliss' absence.
In a statement released to the press, Chambliss said he applauds the passage of the law and hopes it will help laid-off workers get by while seeking a new job.
