Wakulla County commissioners approved a $685,000 settlement for a MSBU tax.
The decision came just months after a judge ruled it a class action lawsuit.
In 2002, the Florida Supreme Court struck down the MSBU funds, stating it doesn't provide a benefit to the property. The money paid went to ambulance services in the county, but the county continued to collect the $35 tax from 1999 through 2003.
Court documents show some residents want the courts to declare the assessments unconstitutional and award them a refund.
Added up, that's about $1.4 million the county would have to repay.
