There was a frightening ride home for a few Leon County elementary school students as their school bus caught fire.
The driver was at the end of her route on Crawfordville Road with just three students left when the bus broke down and started smoking.
The driver says she heard loud noises and had all of the students evacuate the bus. Next thing they all knew, the bus was up in flames.
Linda Lee, who works across the street, says she was startled to see the smoke and flames.
"I just happened to look up, out the window and I seen smoke coming out of the school bus, and then a few minutes later I'd seen some fire, but before that of course I called 911," said Linda Lee, who works across the street.
Investigators are still trying to figure out why the bus broke down. They say most of the fire damage is near the engine.
