Workers have set up for the centennial celebration for the past couple of days.
The big bash kicks off Friday night on the university lawn.
University officials expect a big crowd for the live band, food, and fireworks.
Students anticipate a fun filled evening.
"This is the start of Valdosta, if you want to put it that way, and it's very good for all students to come out and celebrate what they are a part of," said VSU student David Davis.
The new archives museum remains open until nine o'clock Friday night. The birthday bash with a live band begins at seven on the front lawn. A historical slide show at 9 p.m. and fireworks at 9:15 round out Friday’s events.
