It took a Tallahassee jury two and a half hours to reach a verdict in the trial accused pedophile Richard Rightmire, guilty on all counts for having sex with a young girl and taking dozens of pictures of it.
"At my age, it's a rare thing to have intercourse sometimes, and especially with a young lady, that's quite, something that stays in your mind," Rightmire said.
Richard Rightmire stunned the courtroom when he took the stand and tried to explain why he was having sex with a 16-year-old girl and taking pictures of it. He claims it was her idea.
"She wanted to keep them. I didn't want them personally, but I thought it would be nice to take and modify the pictures. When I took the pictures, I fell in love with her face. Her face was just phenomenal in them. The body was irrelevant, that was not what I was looking at," he said on the stand.
But prosecutors pointed out very few of the 75 lewd photos of the girl bothered to include her face. Most showed her naked, bound or engaged in sex acts that Rightmire admitted to right on the stand.
When asked if he had had sex with the teen after her 16th birthday, Rightmire said, "Yes we did."
The jury's task was to render a guilty or not guilty verdict on 88 different charges that could send Rightmire to prison for the rest of his life.
Late Friday afternoon the jury came back with guilty verdicts on all 88 counts. Sentencing is set for September 18.
