Besides spreading some holiday cheer...we've got another reason why a little Christmas caroling is a good thing.
Internet reporter Stephanie Salvatore is at the News Now desk with the details.
If your getting sick and tired of those christmas carols already, don't switch them off just yet...
A new study says joyful music may be just what the doctor ordered.
A new study from the University of Maryland School of Medicine may have you turning up those jolly hits.
In the study, 10 healthy, normal subjects with no history of heart disease were selected to listen to what they called joyful music.
The study showed that the music was associated with a increase in size of the arteries, a dilation... so it suggests that, somehow the music was beneficial for the heart.
"it's interesting because music is something that is known to effect emotions, but the mechanisms for how music effects emotions and what music effects emotions really hasn't worked out very clearly," said Stuart Katz, an NYU Medical Center Cardiologist.
Many people said singing carols definitely alters their mood, puts them in the Christmas spirit and is a good way to find relaxation.
