A Tallahassee man poised to go to trial on deadly child abuse charges has opted for a last minute plea.
Twenty-five-year-old Maning Lott was accused of aggravated child abuse in the death of his two-and-a-half-month-old daughter, Shalia.
According to court records, he told police he was playing with his daughter that day and accidentally dropped her. She died the next day of massive head injuries.
Lott could have faced 30 years in prison if he'd been convicted at trial. This plea deal calls for 10 years in prison instead.
