He says he wants Florida to strenghthen its competitive position and become more resilient to national and global economic fluctuations.
The regional workshops will start August 14th in Orlando. Other workshops will be held in Tampa, Bonita Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Sebring, Lake City, Jacksonville, and the last is September 12th in Panama City.
In addition to the regional workshops, 30 statewide organizations in and out of government are also being asked to identify what they can do to help diversify the state's economy.
The workshops were suggested by a task force Bush formed to look at the issue. It will present a plan to the Legislature in November on what else should be done to try and move Florida's economy beyond it's tourism-reliant base.
