Their jobs are often thankless, but several service agencies are getting a pat on the back.
Hundreds of organizations ranging from the Boys and Girls Club to the Refuge House to Big Bend Hospice were honored at a banquet Thursday night.
The United Partners for Human Services put on the event to let the agencies know how important they are to the community.
Residents who've been helped by these organizations were also in attendance.
"Tallahassee, Leon County is close, whether you're black, white, green or purple, they give everybody an opportunity to come," said Elaine Bryant.
She turned to mothers in crisis a few hours ago while spending time in jail for an alcohol related crash.
Aside from dinner and a silent auction, there was also an awards ceremony to recognize some of the outstanding community service leaders.
