The 2009 election may be over but many are still fighting for gay rights with rallies against the Defense of Marriage Act.

The "Impact Tallahassee" group gathered outside the Leon County Courthouse Saturday afternoon with a petition and letter for Barack Obama.

Organizers say the President Elect made certain promises to the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Trans-gender community.

One main issues is the urge for the Federal Defense of Marriage Act to be repealed.

"We're not asking for special rights and we're not asking for anything other than what is guaranteed in the constitution that everyone else has." says Lisa Comingore, "Impact Tallahassee" leader

"Well on November fourth Florida voted overwhelmingly to protect marriage between one man and one woman." says Nathan Dunn, Florida Family Policy Council

Organizers say the federal amendment makes it so that individual states have the ability to decide same-sex marriage laws, like Florida's Amendment Two.

Supporters of the federal amendment say it helps protect the traditional definition of marriage, while opponents say it discriminates people's rights.

First off, who knows if Christ is King. He may be king in your religion, but not in the Jewish religion. Who is to say your religion is right?? People always see things one sided and it is ridiculous. This is to Huh--> Ever read your Dec. of Independ..All men created equal! Your statement was just plain stupid. By the way..in 1967, a black woman was arrested for marrying a white man. Back then, interracial marriage was a NO NO, just like gay marriage is today. Sometime in the future, it'll be accepted. We just have to wait for the ignorant bigots to become less in numbers. Being gay is not a choice! I can provide good reasons why it is not a choice (just let me know if ya want me to post them). I would like to hear a good reason why it is a choice..and not because the Bible says so!! That's not a good reason! Try thinking for yourself!
