This week Gov. Sonny Perdue's request for disaster declaration in 155 counties was met.
The United States Department of Agriculture granted the request based on production losses due to drought and excessive temperatures.
Now farmers in those counties have the option to file for financial relief in the form of a low-interest emergency loan.
Officials are hoping the good news will help farmers get back on their feet.
