Wednesday, a Quincy man, accused of stabbing an acquaintance outside a popular Leon County bar, was found guilty, but not guilty as charged.
Jurors decided Derrick Sweet was guilty of battery, not attempted murder.
An attempted murder conviction could have sent Sweet to prison for life. Instead, Sweet was sentenced to just shy of a year in the county jail for the altercation outside the Riverfront Saloon.
