A man deputies say has been in trouble with the law for forty years is now under arrest again in Leon County. Fifty-nine-year-old Donald Wood is accused of fraud and grand theft. Deputies say he often promises sales of mobile homes or air conditioners that never materialize.
Deputies say they suspect Wood has already defrauded 10 people in Leon County and fear there are more victims out there afraid to step forward. LCSO Detective David Knight says, “He preys on the good hearted people who are trusting and then they fall victim to this, and the problem is they're living on fixed incomes or living independently and they don't want their families to know they've lost their money, and they don't say anything.”
Deputies say Wood has already scammed people in Leon County out of nearly $40,000 and say his oldest victim so far is 96 years old.
