The bio-tech company Torrey Pines says it will go to Port St. Lucie. The official announcement is coming one week after Tallahassee economic development leaders said they couldn't come up with enough money to bring the company to Leon County.
The South Florida Business Journal reports St. Lucie County won the deal with more than $56 million in local incentives, donated land and another $25 million from the state of Florida.
Tallahassee was head to head with Port St. Lucie up until last week, but the Leon County-Tallahassee Economic Development Council says it was unable to come up with the $20 million it would've needed.
The EDCs not discouraged, saying it was a big league deal and is confident other bio-tech businesses will come.
