Taylor County Parents now have a new way to stay in the know with EIN. The Emergency Information Network is a Web site that provides important information on district schools in times of emergencies.
"I think it's a good idea. It's an addition to verbal communication or other means of notifying a parent. I think that's a great idea. I'm glad it's there."
"Over the past couple of years as bad as the hurricanes have been, many schools lost power. So their individual websites were not accessible. This program is designed by the state. It is set up such that they won't loose power."
In the event of an emergency, the system will post information such as important phone numbers, weather alerts and updated satellite and radar images.
Shelby Gibson says she's particularly fond of it posting notices of school closings because she doesn't have to be the messenger anymore.
"I call other friends and families and let them know that the school is cancelled for that day."
The Web site is provided in partnership with the Florida Department of Education.
Brannan says it is the next step in technology in keeping the community safe and informed.
The Web site is emergency.taylor.k12.fl.us.
