The House also approved the bill.

Most of the proposed increase is due to a $115 million appropriation to buy land near Jacksonville for the Marine Corps' Blount Island Command, a supply and shipping center.

Senators Bob Graham and Bill Nelson of Florida say the total for the 2004 fiscal year would be nearly three times the $94 million that Florida installations received in the current year.

Other projects are at Pensacola Naval Air Station, Eglin Air Force Base, Hurlburt Field, Tyndall Air Force Base, Whiting Field Naval Air Station, Jacksonville Naval Air Station, MacDill Air Force Base and Patrick Air Force Base.
