Katherine Sommelatte lives in a retirement facility, but her daily routine isn't interrupted.

The Person-Centered Model makes that possible.

Instead of Katherine adapting to the facilities schedule, they work around her wants and needs.

Don Wilson, director of Westminster Oaks, said, "You tell us how we've been living for the last 60, 70, 80 years and we will do the best we can to accommodate you. You tell us what time you get up in the morning, when you like to eat breakfast, what type of activity would you like to do today."

Part of the program includes food choices. The State of Florida helped fund a wheelchair buffet. It's lower and lets seniors on walkers and wheelchairs see and smell their food and then make a choice.
