"SAT-9" Scores Are In

The scores are in and the news is good for Leon County students enrolled in the summer reading camps.

More students than expected can now call themselves fourth graders.

Officials say the numbers show the struggling readers are better off now than they were just a few months ago, even if they have to repeat the third grad.

The nearly 300 Leon County third graders enrolled in the summer reading camps can now close the chapter on their six weeks of intensive instruction.

Just Days after putting their knowledge to the test the "SAT 9" scores are here. Seventeen percent of the students scored higher than the national average. That means 42 of the 250 students will start the school year as fourth graders.

While it may not sound like much, school officials were only expecting seven percent to make the grade.
