A local elementary school got a break from their daily lesson to learn what it takes to become an author.
FSU grad Jessica Burkhart stopped by Roberts Elementary School to talk about the process of getting a book from idea to shelf.
Burkhart, who has written four books since she was 19, focused her series on the one thing she knows best...horses.
"Before I started writing the book, I used to be a serious equestrian and had a spinal surgery. So the surgery prevented me from riding so I thought I'll channel all that passion into horse books," says Jessica Burkhart, author of the Canterwood Crest book series.
Burkhart has four more books coming out in the next couple of months and hopes she has inspired some students to become writers.
