Vivian Hadley’s house was suffering from smoke damage after a fire ripped through the front of her West Lafayette residence.
Tallahassee police, Meals on Wheels and other local organizations are gathering this weekend to make Hadley's house a home, giving it a new porch, roof and paint job.
"It makes me feel real good ‘cause I've been trying this done for a long, long time," said SGT Ferrell of the Tallahassee Police Department.
"We are really, really making a difference and it's worthwhile," said Hadley's daughter.
Hadley's backyard transformed into a garden. Volunteers said this wouldn't be possible without the help of the City of Tallahassee and Red Cross, who donated the materials.
