The Hopkins Power Plant is holding its annual open house. It's part of the national observance of "Public Power Week."
Residents got a chance to see how electricity is transferred through circuits bringing light into their home.
They also got a free guided tour of the plant seeing how the boilers and control room, which power the city of Tallahassee, work.
"Open the door and invite people so they can come in and see what we do here and ask questions and see the people and the equipment," said Triveni Singh, Plant Manager.
Different departments were putting on field demonstrations, teaching customers safety tips and ways to conserve energy all to bring awareness to Public Power Week.
