There are new traffic laws taking effect in Florida. As of October 1, taking off from a law enforcement officer in a vehicle now comes with a reckless driving charge. It's also illegal for anyone under 18 to ride in the back of a pickup truck on an interstate highway.
And drivers must remain on the scene of a traffic crash where there's injury, regardless of where it occurred.
LT David Folsom with the Tallahassee Police Department's Traffic Unit said, "Additionally there's a doubling of a traffic fine if you're traveling more than 30 miles over the speed limit, and you can't have your points taken off your record if you're traveling 30 miles over the speed limit."
Another new law to keep in mind is drivers passing a bicycle must leave three feet between car and cyclist.
