Wakulla Meth Lab Busts

A month-long sting operation has landed two more suspected drug dealers behind bars in Wakulla County. That brings the number to eight in the last two days. Wakulla sheriff's officials say they have arrest warrants for 24 suspects. They have 16 more to go and they say they will not stop until all of them are in custody. The Wakulla County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit continues to make more arrests in its drug sting operation.

Wednesday, sheriff's officials went door-to-door in search of 24 well-known drug dealers. Officials say Wednesday the element of surprise was in their favor, allowing them to nab seven suspected drug dealers, ranging from several 19-year-olds to a 51-year-old man. One more was taken in Thursday. Deputies say they hope to have all 24 drug dealers in custody by next week.

"Some have seen the broadcast, some have received information from the street that law enforcement is looking for them and so they are out on the move and so we are on the move," says MAJ Maurice Langston.

Officials say loved ones or friends may be hiding some of the suspects and caution they too could face serious charges for doing so.

"If you know where they are don't hide them out because you will be charged with 3rd degree felony for accessory," SGT Cliff Carroll says.

MAJ Langston says some of the suspected drug dealers have called them to say they will be turning themselves into authorities by Thursday evening or Friday morning. Officials say these guys can run, but they can’t hide.

We could be looking at a statewide, even national hunt for those who choose to remain on the run. Langston says their names are now in the Florida Crime Information Center database, making it easier for authorities to catch them.
