The event honors volunteer firefighters and their families for their time and dedication keeping our communities safe.
Every year a volunteer is awarded the "Volunteer Firefighter of the Year Award." Leonard Kinerson of the Chaires Capitola department was chosen to receive the award this year.
"It makes me feel good that people support the volunteers in general. I mean, every one of these volunteers out here give hours, if not weeks and days of their lives," said Leonard Kinerson.
All six fire departments in Leon County participated in the event, which is sponsored by the Earl Bacon Insurance Agency. The company donated food and goody bags to those in attendance.
