Colorful, fun, free events brought residents to downtown Havana for pony rides, face painting and storytelling.

Children walked the decorated streets in Halloween costumes, and what's a pumpkin festival without pumpkins? Kids picked through hundreds, hoping to get just the right one.

"Well, it was kind of a medium size, and we painted a lot of colors," said Maclane Mautz, a pumpkin picker.

The event offers safe trick-or-treating for costumed children. Proceeds from the festival go to the Havana Merchants Association and Big Bend Hospice.
