Chili lovers found the perfect way to warm up in Saturday’s cool temperatures, letting their taste buds do the work in the Elks Lodge Chili Cook-off.
Nearly 25 booths were on site with chefs cooking up their favorite chili recipes. Proceeds from the event benefit the Family Readiness Group, providing assistance to families of local soldiers serving overseas.
It was an afternoon filled with fun, food, and some good old fashioned competition.
"Well, we just seem to always be the bridesmaids and never the brides. We've come in second in two different state championships trying to win the one to get us to the national championship. Our team motto here is 'we're number two... we're number two,’" said Larry Hines from the Big Belly chili booth.
Coming in first place was the "Red, White, and Blue American Chili". Eyewitness News' very own Jennifer Ryan was one of the judges.
