Sunday kicked off School Bus Safety Week, and AAA wants parents and children to follow safety tips for riding the school bus.
Stand at least 10 feet away from the road, walk in front of the bus, and stop at the edge of the bus and look left, right, and left before crossing.
Matt Martin, a father, said, "I think it's very important for parents to be aware. At least for the first few days or even for the first week, walk with them down to the school bus stop. Even if you have to be late for work for a couple of days, just to make your kids feel safer."
AAA also warns motorists that it is illegal to pass a school bus that is loading or unloading children.
