Hartsfield Elementary opened in 1956 with only 15 classrooms.
The school celebrated its golden birthday with photos, music, birthday cake and a lot of memories.
Former students reminisced about the clothes and hairstyles they sported in the 50s and 60s.
Madeline Hollon was one of the first students at Hartsfield. After more than 20 years, she returned as a teacher.
"It's been fabulous, you know. You hate reunions because you know all your wrinkles and sags are going to show, but I got here and forgot all that seeing children I used to teach when I was a teacher here, and I even see people I went to school with."
Fifty years later, Hartsfield holds more than 600 students in 29 classrooms.
