Leon County commissioners got an ear full from residents of the Killearn Lakes community Tuesday night.

Homeowners say recent rains have caused flooding and a "crisis" over water-covered septic tanks in the neighborhood.

Residents warn of a public health crisis if the waste gets into local water systems.

County commissioners want to look into a possible sewer system to get rid of the septic tanks.

Costs could be split between the county, the homeowners' association, and other groups like Talquin Electric.

The county will investigate why septic tanks are failing, and consider a halt to home construction in the area.
