Grant Dollars Headed to Thomasville

Charlie Jones has owned his home for 26 years. Having paid it off, he doesn't have much to complain about, until now. "I asked them what they were going to do with it. He said he was going to start on it right away and make it look like this house across the street, but nothing has been done yet," he explains.

Jones says the modular home across the street just doesn't fit in the historical neighborhood. However, big changes are in store, thanks to an $800,000 dollar grant from the state.

On top of that good news, the city is contributing more than $300,000 dollars to see many of the dirt roads on the North side of town paved.

Michael Thomas says the roads can be a big problem. "When the rain comes through this area it usually washes out most of the drive ways that are around and causes runs in the roads and water puddles," he says.

With money in hand, and surveying crews busy, the city is hoping to wash away resident's concerns.

The city is finishing up paving roads from the last round of grants, but hopes to get a start on the new project shortly.
