A Real Lifesaver

The last seven years have been deemed successful for the United Way of the Big Bend. The 60-year-old organization basses their success on being able to meet and surpass its fund raising goals.

As of today, the United Way says they have even more exciting news. They say it may be one of their greatest accomplishments yet. Over the last seven years, the average growth for a United Way chapter has been about 29 percent. For the United Way of the Big Bend, it's 93 percent.

It's not easy to get to the top of this life saver stack, but for the last seven years the United Way of the big bend has done exactly that.

"Our United Way has performed at the top. It's reflective of our community. Tallahassee is one of the most caring communities," said Chuck Mitchell.

With all the United Way has accomplished locally, they're now getting recognition nationally. For 60 years the United Way has made the difference in their respective communities.

Here in Tallahassee, the United Way says they can be found just about anywhere help is needed. If you are interested in doing something with the united way, their next event will be this Friday.

You can call them at 414-0862 for more information. Compared to all 1,400 United Way chapters, ours is number 4.
