Severe Weather Strikes Coastal Community

Folks in Apalachicola say a tornado tore through town Friday evening. There were downed trees and power lines throughout the tiny fishing village.

One tree landed on the roof of the area's only hospital.

Weems Hospital was powered by a generator Friday night. Employees say it sounded like a train coming through. Damage assessments began at first light.

No injuries were reported. The Capital City Area Red Cross is responding.
