Last Thursday they packed their stuff in a van and made the 10 hour journey to the jazz city. They focused on building Habitat houses for displaced musicians in the Musician Village.
The houses they built were very colorful and they hope they help brighten this city.
Deborah Davis, the trip coordinator, shared, "The trip was wonderful. It was a lot of fun. We saw, I think, more devastation I think than we ever expected."
Bernadette Gunder, a volunteer, added, "It makes you feel like you're really able to make a difference. I mean, you look at the devastation and it seems so overwhelming, such a big project."
This trip was sponsored by Valdosta State University, and the volunteers say they hope to return next semester and build more houses.
