SCLC Chapter President Says Suspension Is Wrong

The president of the local Southern Christian Leadership Conference is accusing the national organization of suspending his chapter without a relevant reason.

The national organization in Atlanta says the chapter was suspended for operating without authorization from the Board of Directors and for violating the election process.

The chapter president, Reverend William Foutz, says the election process hasn't even happened yet.

"The mismanagement and the election and all of that, that was falsely accused and we expect the national to come back and reinstate this chapter immediately so that we can go about doing the business of Dr. Martin Luther King."

Foutz expects the suspension will be lifted in December in time for the annual chapter elections.
