TCC is the only community college in the state to be awarded a grant that will help parents get their GED while their children learn their ABCs.
Seventeen-year-old Shantel Riley hasn't been able to find her way back to school since she gave birth two years ago, and adult educators say the future could be even tougher.
But thanks to the governor's family literacy initiative grant, parents and their children can go to school together.
While students are attending GED classes, their children will attend free educational childcare. The program will also allow parent and child time together.
There is still space available for this program. For more information, call the TCC Adult Education Program at 201-8059.
