A special ceremony was held Thursday at Tallahassee’s V.A. Clinic for the family of 19-year-old Daniel Chaires.
The young Marine was killed last month along with three other Marines in northern Iraq.
During the ceremony, flags were handed out and the names of other fallen soldiers were spoken.
"It is a shame that people in our community have to go through this type of thing, but this is war," says Harry Chaires, father of Daniel Chaires.
Members of the Chaires family will lead this week's Veteran's Day Parade through the streets of downtown Tallahassee.
