The agency said today the firings follow an investigation that showed a DCF supervisor falsified records and abuse investigators poorly documented cases.
Eight other employees are being disciplined. DCF Secretary Jerry Regier has also referred the case to the Marion County state attorney for possible criminal charges.
He says he's outraged by the findings.
The agency's Inspector General began investigating the claims of improper handling of abuse cases in March. The DCF said the case review is complete and the children who were the subjects of the cases are safe.
A prosecutor in Ocala says he has not heard about the case.
