More than 2,000 people were lacing up their shoes at the crack of dawn for the 31st Annual Turkey Trot.

Runners had the chance to compete in either a 5, 10, or 15k race, and it's all for a good cause.

Proceeds go to local charities, including The Refuge House and The Shelter.

"It feels good, feels good to be done. I was thinking I was gonna sleep in, but I thought, no, I can't do that, so it's fun. And now we get to go home with our families and it's relaxing," said Sarah Doctor-Williams, a participant.

Runners said participating in the "Turkey Trot" makes them feel less guilty when it comes time to stuff their faces with all the Thanksgiving fixings.
