A scam artist may have chosen the wrong target for his get rich quick scheme. He sent his Email to none other than the Leon County Sheriff's Office.
Detectives say a man calling himself "Daniel Lduke" was offering an LCSO employee a crack at $12.5 million. Detectives are planning to Email him back and see how far it'll go.
"Perhaps not to find out exactly who sent it, but more importantly, I think it gives us an opportunity to identify the accounts that they are counterfeiting and perhaps notify those businesses up front," said Detective Rob Waller with LCSO's Financial Crimes Unit.
Deputies say this appears to be a typical Nigerian phishing scam. Waller says if the culprits can get just a few people to respond to their mass Emails, they can make good money.
We'll let you know what "Mr. Lduke" does next.
