You may not know it, but Wednesday was National Women's Health Day and across the country organizations are holding events to promote women's health and fitness. FSU and FAMU held events geared to encourage young women to take care of their body by eating healthier, having regular check up and even dancing.
FAMU student, shelly flash is taking matters into her own hands when it comes to her health. Shelly is taking part in FAMU's celebration of national women's health and fitness day, where women could get their vision tested, checked for diabetes and learn how to make time for physical activity like dancing.
Across town, Florida State University freshman, Catherine Slocum is taking control of her own well-being. Catherine is one of the dozens of FSU students learning the facts she needs to help make smart choices concerning her health. Two different schools building healthier students one day at a time.
This is the second annual national women's health and fitness day. Across the U.S. some 40 to 50,000 women are expected to mark this day by walking, exercising or attending a health fair.
