Noise and flashing lights ring in one of the largest nighttime events in Tallahassee.

"It's time to have fun with everybody in Tallahassee and to see what everybody does during the holiday season in Tallahassee," said Jackie Vanterpool, who loves the parade.

Thousands showed up to see the bands, bright lights, and beautiful floats at the Annual Winter Festival Parade.

"We got here around five, and we have been just walking around, having fun, and I got my face painted and all that," said Jarrett Fillyaw.

The spectacular sights and yuletide cheer bring folks back year after year.

"We've been here every year. We enjoy it all the time," said Dalton Verhagn, who comes every year.

"I have been coming and going for about 20 years," said Johnny Buchanan, a participant.

Residents aren't the only ones participating in the festivities. WCTV's crew joins the parade every year, helping to ring in the holiday cheer

"I like the parade and seeing Santa Claus and everything. It's fun for a little town to do this," said Verhagn.

Folks cheer on familiar faces in the parade.

"My dad is in it, my mom is in it, my school band is in it and my school cheerleader," said Lauren Lastowski, who is cheering on friends and family.

While the floats roll by, the bright lights and warm smiles send out some holiday cheer, kicking off the season just right.

This is the 20th Annual Winter Festival in Tallahassee and more than 130 entries participated in the parade.
