A man sentenced to die Wednesday night for killing a Miami topless club manager says he is nervous but feels at peace.
Angel Nieves Diaz is sentenced to die at 6 p.m. at the Florida State Prison. He was convicted of the fatal shooting of Joseph Nagy while robbing the Velvet Swing in Miami in 1979.
The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta denied motions for a stay of execution and a request to file another appeal. It turned down his claim of newly discovered evidence.
Nieves' attorney says he still has appeals pending with the U.S. Supreme Court.
